Stories of September 11
Lessons of Compassion

1 ¼ hours program – Grades 5 - 12

Program Description:
Based on Tribute’s “Person to Person” approach to history, students will be guided by a leader who experienced the events of September 11th or of February 26, 1993 either as a survivor, Lower Manhattan resident, recovery worker, volunteer or family member. Students will be guided to construct a timeline of events based on investigating photographs, objects, and oral histories. After an orientation, students will conduct their own mini-investigation project using the resources within the exhibit.

During a culminating discussion, the extraordinary civic response and outpouring of humanitarianism that resulted from 9/11 will be discussed. Post visit activities guide students to research further and to share their Tribute experience with others as well as to take action to create better understanding and empathy among the people of our world.

Cost of program:
$10.00 per student ($5.00 for NYCDOE) and chaperone (up to 35 persons in a group). Full deposit is due 2 weeks in advance of program date. Only 50% is refundable due to a cancellation. Group program fees are accepted by check only.

How to Schedule:
To make a reservation, call 212.393.9160 Ext.133.
