After your visit we recommend that you continue to discuss and share your Tribute experience back at school. Here are some thought-provoking questions to ask your students:

  • How has your life changed as a result of 9/11?
  • What stories or images impressed you about the uniqueness of this World Trade Center environment before the attacks?
  • How did the personal quotes and stories help you better understand this history?
  • What evidence did you find of how people helped each other through this crisis? Was there a personal story that stays with you?
  • Discuss one object you remember and write about the challenges faced by the owner or the workers that recovered this object.
  • What specific questions do you have about September 11th and how can you find an answer?
  • How should ordinary citizens and students respond to this act of violence? What can students and teachers do to prevent intolerance, hatred and violence toward others?
  • One of the outcomes of this massive tragedy was the outpouring of human generosity, as people worked to help each other. In “tribute” to this spirit, what act of generosity can you perform in your own school or community to help another?
