Volunteering at the Center

Walking Tour and Gallery Guides

The 9/11 Tribute Center's Volunteer Program offers an opportunity for people directly affected by the events of September 11th to lead guided walks on the 9/11 Memorial. All volunteers are drawn from the community of survivors, lower Manhattan residents and workers, rescue workers, volunteers at the recovery site and family members that lost loved ones. Guides are trained to talk about the history of the World Trade Center and the impact of September 11th, and share their own personal experiences and inspire visitors with the rebuilding of the World Trade Center. In addition to the walking tour program, Tribute volunteers can also act as gallery guides in the Tribute Center, interacting informally with visitors or concluding visits of school groups. If you are interested in volunteering with the program, please fill out this online application.

If you are having difficulties with the online form, please fill out this PDF application.

Internships

The 9/11 Tribute Center is a museum located directly across the street from the World Trade Center and around the corner from the entrance to the 9/11 Memorial. Tribute is composed of five galleries and a walking tour program that share personal experiences of September 11, 2001 and the aftermath.

The 9/11 Tribute Center offers a limited number of unpaid internships to advanced undergraduate and graduate students interested in work experience for academic credit. Internships at the Tribute Center are custom designed for each student based on learning objectives defined by the intern, the intern's faculty adviser, and Tribute's internship supervisor. Together we will work to develop a successful, educational and meaningful experience which combines both the needs of the intern and the Tribute Center. Internships generally last for one semester.
